The real-time auction behind every campaign — one lead or call, one auction, the best bid wins.
Marketplace is the pricing engine for both channels — Leads and Calls run the same auction. Each lead or call that enters a campaign runs one first-price auction over the eligible buyer targets: the highest effective bid wins and pays its own bid, above the campaign floor. Fixed-price and real-time (RTB) bidders compete together. Marketplace decides the winner and the clearing price; it doesn’t move money — Ledger does that.
| Rule | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Bid | Fixed targets bid their configured price; RTB targets are pinged per lead and bid live. |
| Eligibility | Only targets that pass caps, cert-tier minimums, consent scope, dedup, and filters compete. |
| Floor | A per-campaign floor_price excludes any bid below it. |
| Winner | Highest effective bid wins and pays its own bid; priority_order breaks ties. |
| Audit | Every eligible bid is written to the bid log with its rank — the clearing-price trail. |
Ping = run the auction and hold the reservation; post = deliver to the held winner at the reserved price. For a lead the post is an HTTP delivery; for a call it’s the live transfer. See Leads → Ping/Post.
Every campaign runs in one of two auction modes (set per campaign under Auction mode):
| Mode | How it works | Money |
|---|---|---|
| Private (margin) | Your own book — your supply feeds your own campaigns, single-tenant. You set the buy and sell price and keep the spread. | You keep the margin (sell − buy); no platform fee on the clear (a flat network fee may apply). |
| OpenExchange (public) | The open, cross-tenant board: opt a campaign or source into a Category and it competes across accounts at the cleared price. Identity-transparent — both sides are named. | Settles at the cleared price with a platform fee; the seller nets cleared − fee. |
They share one auction: a source opted into OpenExchange competes across your private campaigns and the open cross-tenant demand in its Category together — so a lead or call only clears on the exchange when that pays more than your own margin would. Opt in via Campaigns → Auction mode → OpenExchange (demand) or ⇢ Supply → Offer to OpenExchange (supply); browse the open board at Marketplace → OpenExchange.
Buyers, prices, bid mode (fixed vs RTB), and the floor are set per campaign — in Leads → Campaigns or Calls → Campaigns. The certificate trust tier from Certify gates eligibility and weights bids, so better-certified leads and calls clear stronger auctions.
The Marketplace → Auctions view in the portal shows each lead’s or call’s auction: the clearing price, how many buyers bid, the floor, and whether it cleared competitively (more than one bidder). Use it to see whether your floors are too high (few bids) or leaving money on the table (single-bidder clears).
Next: Ledger (how the clearing price settles) and Pricing (the platform fee on each cleared lead or call).
